The best thing you can do for your nails today

Discover the latest nail trends by Leonie Barlow, The Style Insider blogger, and how she used the Scholl Velvet Smooth Nail Care System.

I have a confession to make – I have a bad habit of peeling shellac off my nails. In fact, I’ve done it the last three times I’ve had gel nails applied and now my nails are a mess. Every time you peel your polish off it takes a layer of your natural nail with it so you end up with cracked, paper thin nail beds. It’s not a good look believe me. So in an effort to get get my nails runway ready (aka super slick) for summer I decided to give them some TLC with a nifty little battery-operated buffer. I was worried my nails were too far gone but a little Scholl Velvet Smooth rehab is getting them back on track.

See what I mean in this short video below but be warned . . . it’s not for the faint-hearted – my nails are in really bad shape.

A perfect base is essential when it comes runway-ready nails. So once you have your nails in tip-top condition why not play around with some of the season’s hottest trends.

Nail Appliques

Nail appliques are the quickest and easiest way to give your nails a modern makeover. When these sticker-like appliqués are applied to well-buffed nails they can last up to two weeks.

  • Only buff your nails every two weeks
  • File you nails into a square shape for easy care
  • Use a conditioning nail oil every day
  • For best results buff the oil into your nails with the Scholl Velvet Smooth
  • Never ever, ever peel shellac polish off your nails.
